Help us send a strong message to the federal Liberal Caucus as they meet in downtown Edmonton: Join us for a lunch time rally to show you're ALL IN for Pharmacare!

Join Friends of Medicare, the Canadian Health Coalition, and allies from Alberta and across the country to show the Liberal Government that we support a national, universal, public prescription drug plan, and that we're going to hold them to their promises.

➤ Double your impact: join us September 11 for our Edmonton Blitz for Pharmacare!

Why now?

With economic uncertainty and affordability top of mind, there's never been a more important time for governments to support public services which can save us money, keep us healthy, and relieve the pressure on our strained health care systems.

The federal Liberal Party is having their national caucus retreat in Edmonton, which means this is a unique opportunity to show our support for this much-needed, long-overdue program. Albertans overwhelmingly support universal Pharmacare — we need to make sure our representatives hear this loud and clear.

Background

Last October, Bill C-64: An Act Respecting Pharmacare was passed into law, setting up the framework for universal, single-payer, public drug coverage for all Canadians, starting with coverage of contraceptives and diabetes medication and equipment. But following the 2025 federal election, negotiations have stalled as the new government has so far neglected to commit ongoing funding for this much-needed program.

Friends of Medicare and our allies across the country have been fighting this fight for decades, and we’re now closer than ever to achieving universal Pharmacare and finally ensuring that everyone in this country can afford to take their medications as prescribed.
