TrishaHelp us send a strong message to Alberta's only federal Cabinet Minister: Join Friends of Medicare, the Canadian Health Coalition, and allies to urge Minister Eleanor Olszewski to keep her promise!
We're taking the fight for Pharmacare to Edmonton Centre, canvassing door-to-door, dropping leaflets in mailboxes, and talking to MP Olszewski's constituents about how we can achieve a universal public drug plan for all Albertans.
Training will be provided—no experience necessary!
➤ Double your impact: Also join us September 9 for our Pharmacare Rally in Edmonton!
Why Edmonton Centre?
Eleanor Olszewski is one of only two Liberal MPs in Alberta, and our only Cabinet Minister. During her election campaign, she said:
"As a former pharmacist, I understand how vital it is for all Albertans to have access to the medications they need. If I'm elected as your MP for Edmonton Centre I will fight hard to make sure that all Albertans have access to the Liberal national pharmacare program."
But following the 2025 federal election, Pharmacare negotiations have stalled as the new Liberal government has so far neglected to commit ongoing funding for this much-needed and long-overdue program. Albertans overwhelmingly support universal Pharmacare, and we need to show our representatives that we're holding them to their promises.
Why now?
Last October, Bill C-64: An Act Respecting Pharmacare was passed into law, setting up the framework for universal, single-payer, public drug coverage for all Canadians, starting with coverage of contraceptives and diabetes medication and equipment. But following the 2025 federal election,
Friends of Medicare and our allies across the country have been fighting this fight for decades, and we’re now closer than ever to achieving universal Pharmacare and finally ensuring that everyone in this country can afford to take their medications as prescribed.
