In September, Canadian Blood Services (CBS) announced an undisclosed 15-year deal with Grifols, a for-profit multinational pharmaceutical company, to privatize plasma collection in Canada. 

Health Coalitions, unions, and advocacy organizations from across the country have denounced this decision as an undemocratic violation of the trust that the public placed in CBS to protect the public blood and plasma collection system. 

Canadian veins are not for profit! We must save our voluntary blood system by investing in public plasma collection, protecting plasma donors, and stopping the secrecy.
