Chapter meetings are held the last Monday of every month, 7:00 pm at First United Church in Fort McMurray. There will be no meeting in September. We look forward to seeing you at October's meeting.

If you ask Canadians what makes us different from our American neighbours, the vast majority will say that it’s our public health care; that in Canada we care for each other.
FORT MCMURRAY — Residents from Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo region have come together to launch a new Friends of Medicare chapter, to advocate for the protection and expansion of public health care in north-east Alberta and beyond.
EDMONTON — SMG Medical Complex is a proposal to build a massive, 14-storey, private, for-profit health care facility in Fort McMurray. This contentious project has doubled in size from its initial proposal, and now promises to provide numerous services including chartered surgeries, ambulatory care, and “luxurious accommodations." They have launched a website seeking investors where they promise eight to 10 percent returns on investments, plus further opportunities for profits from “those willing to pay out of pocket.”
