After working all their lives, seniors deserve to live with dignity. Without a pan-Canadian strategy to ensure a consistent continuum of care, many seniors are falling through the cracks.
The Canadian Health Coalition launched its campaign this morning calling for a National Seniors Care Strategy, to ensure that all seniors can access the full continuum of care they require to live with health and dignity.
The campaign is accompanied by a new policy paper, entitled "Ensuring Quality Care for All Seniors." The paper addresses the inequity that occurs as a result of our current patchwork seniors care system, and the inconsistent funding, standards of care and staffing levels across federal, provincial and territorial jurisdictions. You can read the paper here.
As a member of the Canadian Health Coalition, Friends of Medicare fully supports this initiative to establish a National Seniors Care Strategy, and the recommendations made by the CHC to ensure seniors in Canada have equitable access to quality care.
