The Future of Medicare: Threats & Opportunities

Join us for an important discussion on The Future of Medicare in Canada!

This is a free event open to the public, with snacks and refreshments provided.

As Canada's Provincial & Territorial Health Ministers meet in Edmonton, Friends of Medicare and our allies from across the country will be hosting events to highlight threats and opportunities for the delivery of universal public health care.

Our event at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18 will feature:

Adrienne Silnicki with the Canadian Health Coalition on how a lack of a national funding agreement poses a threat to provincial and territorial funding for health care improvement.

Edith MacHattie with the BC Health Coalition on the legal attack on public health care where Dr. Brian Day is suing to open up U.S. style two-tiered health care across Canada.

Sandra Azocar Friends of Medicare will speak on the opportunities to build Medicare 2.0, where we expand the principles of our universal health system to cover not only hospital and physician services, but prescription drugs, dental & vision care, mental health & more.

There will be open discussion from the audience with each presentation.

Doors open at 6:15 at the Holiday Inn Express, 10010 104 St in Edmonton.
