Pharmacare: A Plan For Everyone Town Hall (Calgary)
What is the unfinished business of our Canadian Medicare System?
Over 60 years ago, in Saskatchewan - Medicare was fought for in the provincial arena, led by Tommy Douglas. Douglas intended for Medicare to have a second phase to include Pharmacare, but decades later this has yet to come to fruition. In fact, Canada is the only country with a universal public health care system that does not cover prescription drugs. It is time for that to change!
Over the past few months, the Canadian Labour Congress has been hosting town hall meetings in more than 25 communities across the country. Featuring some of Canada's foremost pharmacare experts and advocates, these important discussions address why we need a universal prescription drug plan that covers all Canadians, regardless of their age, income, or where they work or live.
Join Friends of Medicare and our allies at the A Plan for Everyone Calgary town hall as we discuss why universal coverage for prescription medication is needed, and what we can do to accomplish this together, both nationally, and in Alberta. Be part of a monumental time in Canadian history!
